New Trustees Chair

1973 Penn State graduate and successful potato farmer Keith E. Masser is the new chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees. Masser replaces Karen Peetz, who did not seek reelection. Masser first served on Penn State’s Board of Trustees in 2008, rising to vice chairman in 2012. Attorney Stephanie Diviney was elected vice-chairman for 2013. 

State College Board of Health

The State College Board of Health will meet tomorrow afternoon in room 242 of the Borough’s offices. The election of a 2013 chair, highlights the agenda. During the fourth quarter of 2012, the board reports 68 snow violations and 11 refuse violations. A public hour, allowing citizens to voice their concerns is also scheduled during the meeting. The regularly scheduled State College Borough Council meeting will take place Tuesday night at 7:30.

PennDOT Savings Planned

PennDOT will save more than $50-million through its Next Generation initiative, modernizing operations, expanding inter-agency efficiencies and becoming a better business partner. Governor Tom Corbett announced the Next Generation progress Friday. The initiative is outlined online at www.ModernDOT.pa.gov and encompasses technology improvements, employee suggestions and private-sector innovation. The state identifies sharing services between departments as another means for efficiency.
