Battista to Leave Penn State
An important figure in bringing division-1 ice hockey to Penn State is on the move. Longtime Penn State hockey coach and administrator Joe Battista will leave the university on November 8th for a position with Terry Pegula’s East Management Services. Battista will serve as the organization’s Vice President of Hockey Related Businesses. The 1983 Penn State graduate was serving as the Associate Athletic Director for Pegula Ice Arena and Hockey Development for Penn State Athletics.
Paterno vs. NCAA
A Potter County judge did not rule yesterday on the status of the Paterno family’s lawsuit against the NCAA. Lawyers for both sides made arguments in Centre County Court debating whether or not the lawsuit should be allowed to continue. The NCAA is hoping to have the lawsuit dismissed. Penn State is not apart of the lawsuit.
Penn State President
Penn State is expected to name a new university president on Friday. As first reported by Philadelphia’s Channel 6 Action News, Penn State’s Board of Trustees will hold a special session on Friday to announce the successor to Rodney Erickson. Erickson previously said he planned to retire by June 2014.
