Centre County Roadwork

PennDOT crews will be completing several projects across Centre County this week. Delays are possible on Fox Hollow Road in Patton Township tomorrow and Wednesday and on Atherton Street around State College due to planned surface improvements. Work is also scheduled on Jacksonville Road in Marion Township beginning tomorrow.


Vandalism At Fraternity

State College Police are investigating vandalism that occurred overnight Thursday at two downtown fraternities. According to police, 12 cars parked behind the Delta Sigma Phi and Beta Sigma Beta fraternity houses and a garage and dumpster had offensive words and images spray painted on them. The frats are located in the 400 and 500 blocks of Berry Alley. Anyone with information should contact police at 814-234-7150. Police are offering up to a 1-thousand dollar award for information leading to an arrest.


Rice Says No to Penn State

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice reportedly turned down an offer to serve as Penn State’s next president. In a statement to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Rice says she was contacted by the search firm assisting the university. However, Rice elected to remain at Stanford as a political science professor. Current president Rodney Erickson plans to retire by the end of June 2014.
