State College Borough Offers Free Holiday Parking

State College is offering free downtown parking to entice holiday shoppers to visit borough stores. Shoppers can pick up parking vouchers from participating stores to use in any downtown garages. According to Statecollege.com, the Borough and State College Downtown Improvement District are providing the vouchers to promote local shopping and aid the local economy. 

Ferguson Township Police: Prepare Vehicles for Winter

The Ferguson Township Police Department is encouraging residents to get their vehicles ready for winter. In addition to having cars and trucks inspected by a mechanic, the department reminds folks to check heaters and defrosters, fluid levels, lights and tire levels. Additionally, a winter emergency kit should be stored in your car with a flashlight and batteries, jumper cables, cell phone and charger, snow shovel, matches and candles and first aid supplies

Spanier Charges

Former Penn State president Graham Spanier is hoping to have all charges against him dropped. Attorneys for Spanier asked Judge Barry Feudale to toss charges of obstruction of justice, perjury, endangering children and additional counts for his role in the alleged cover up of the child sexual abuse by Jerry Sandusky. According to the Patriot-News, lawyers say prosecutors wrongly relied on testimony of former University Counsel Cynthia Baldwin in the grand jury case against Spanier.
