Paterno Supporters to Rally

Supporters of late, legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno will host a presentation and panel discussion in downtown State College on Saturday, exactly two years to the date of Paterno’s firing. According to the Centre Daily Times, former football standout Franco Harris is organizing the event, titled “Upon Further Review.” It will take place at 7:30 pm at the Days Inn at 240 South Pugh Street. Other supporters expected to attend include Ray Blehar, Eileen Morgan and John Ziegler.

District Seeks Questions

The State College Area School District is inviting residents to the State College Borough’s November “Lunch and Learn” event today to discuss the district’s high school project. District representatives will be on-hand in the borough’s municipal building lobby between 12 and 1 pm today to answer questions and meet with residents about the project. According to a release, officials will also attend the State College Borough’s Council Work Session tomorrow at noon to present updates on the project.

Police Investigate Fire

State College Police are investigating a suspicious fire at the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity in downtown State College. Police say a plastic storage shed in the back of the frat was completely destroyed in the blaze. The incident occurred at 4:10 a.m. last Friday. Police say three, white college-aged males were in the vicinity of the shed prior to the fire and a cushioned chair located next to the shed served as the ignition point. The shed and all of its contents were destroyed. Anyone with information should contact police at 814-234-7150.
