Peetz will not seek Re-Election

Penn State’s Board Of Trustees Chairman Karen B. Peetz will not seek re-election as Chairman due to her appointment as President of BNY Mellon. She will continue to serve on the board and on leadership committees. According to a release from Penn State, the election of a new Chairman and other officers will occur at the next Board of Trustees meeting on January 18th.  Peetz was appointed Chairman on January 20th, 2012, overseeing the university’s response to the Sandusky scandal. She will begin her tenure as President of BNY Mellon on January 1st

Armed Robbery in State College Borough

State college police are investigating a report of an armed robbery that occurred early Monday evening in the borough. Police say two black males entered an apartment at 820 West College Avenue, robbing four men at gunpoint then tying up the victims before fleeing. The incident occurred around 7:35 p.m. and both suspects wore dark clothing and masks while displaying handguns. Police say a possible third suspect was waiting outside the apartment in a car. American Red Cross Assists Residents

The American Red Cross is assisting a State College area family displaced from a single home fire over the weekend. The family is among 11 in central Pennsylvania receiving aid from American Red Cross volunteers. In all, 46 people were displaced by 5 separate home fires this weekend. The Red Cross is reminding residents to use extra caution during the holiday season while cooking and using holiday lights.
