STATE COLLEGE REFERENDUM
Voters within the State College Area School District will choose whether or not the district can issue $85 in additional bonds to finance its high school project. If approved, taxes for the average homeowner would increase by $190 per year until debt has been repaid. On the May 20 ballot, the referendum will read:
“SHALL DEBT IN THE SUM OF EIGHTY-FIVE MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE PURPOSE OF FINANCING NEW CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATIONS FOR THE STATE COLLEGE AREA HIGH SCHOOL BE AUTHORIZED TO BE INCURRED AS DEBT APPROVED BY THE ELECTORS? YES NO”
The project will combine the current North and South buildings into one building on the south side of Westerly Parkway. The current North building will be renovated to include the Delta program, athletic venues and more.
UPLIFTING ATHLETES FUNDRAISER
Penn State’s chapter of Uplifting Athletes will hold several fundraisers at Saturday’s men’s basketball game at the Bryce Jordan Center. Members of the football team will host a pregame kids skills combine, autograph session and mystery bag giveaway. Additional information is available at GoPSUsports.com. PENNS VALLEY THEFTS
State Police are investigating stolen money from multiple Penns Valley Area School District athletic events. According to the Centre Daily Times, police say an undisclosed sum was reportedly stolen between January 1st and February 4th. Police say a suspected has been identified.
