STATE COLLEGE WORK
Curb and sidewalk repairs in the 200 block of South Buckhout Street in State College are scheduled to continue this week. Folks traveling through the area should use extra caution. Work is scheduled Monday-Friday between 7:30 am and 5 pm.
PENNSYLVANIA GROUNDWATER SYMPOSIUM
Registration for the May 7th Pennsylvania Groundwater Symposium in State College concludes on Friday. Penn State Extension and the state Department of Environmental Protection are hosting the event at the Ramada Inn Conference Center. The event coincides with National Drinking Water Week. According to Penn State, roughly 200 researchers, students, professionals and educators working in the groundwater field will attend the event to exchange information discuss relevant issues.
CAMERA INSTALLATION IN STATE COLLEGE
The installation of 71 new surveillance cameras throughout downtown State College is underway. A $450,000 allocation for the project was approved by Borough Council in October. According to the Centre Daily Times, borough officials say the cameras will be used to aid in solving crimes. The cameras will be placed throughout the downtown municipal building, parking garages and public spaces.
BESTWICK FOUNDATION SPRING RIDE
On Saturday, the Bestwick Foundation will host its annual Spring Ride community fundraiser. The event begins at Kelly’s Steak House in Boalsburg at 9:30 am. Participants can take part in either a 74 or 36-mile bike ride winding throughout the region. All proceeds benefit the Bestwick Foundation. Registration is $35 in advance and $40 on the day of the ride.
