STATE COLLEGE ROADWORK 

Delays are possible for folks traveling in the 1200 block of Old Boalsburg Road between South Atherton Street and Ellen Avenue in State College through Friday. Borough Public Works crews are repairing curbs, sidewalks and asphalt in the area. Work is scheduled from 7:30 am until 5 pm daily, weather permitting.

STATE COLLEGE REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

The State College Borough Redevelopment Authority will meet today at noon in room 242 of the downtown municipal building. Officials will discuss the Homestead Investment Program Process and the Capital Improvements Plan. Additionally, the Centre Foundation’s Centre Inspires Grant will provide a report. Public comment is scheduled during the meeting.

PINE HALL CEMETERY VANDALISM 

Ferguson Township Police are investigating vandalism at the Pine Hall Cemetery at 1767 West College Avenue overnight Monday. Police say 15 headstones were knocked over and damaged in the rear section of the cemetery. Earlier this month, vandals caused more than $100,000 of damage in a historic Boalsburg cemetery. Ferguson Township police are working with State College Police to rule out any connections. Anyone with information should contact police at 814-237-1172.

STATE COLLEGE MARRIAGE 

State College Mayor Elizabeth Goreham historically officiated her first same-sex marriage ceremony yesterday morning at borough headquarters. According to Statecollege.com, area-natives Rebecca and Kimberly Sellers exchanged vows after four years of engagement. The ceremony occurred just one week after a federal judge ruled Pennsylvania’s ban on same-sex marriages unconstitutional.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS

Severe thunderstorms containing high winds, heavy rain and lightning did not cause much damage yesterday throughout Centre County. According to the Centre Daily Times, roughly 100 West Penn Power customers temporarily lost power during yesterday afternoons storms. Accuweather predicts showers and thunderstorms again today with temperatures hovering just below 80.
