Lift-For-Life sets new Record
Penn State’s Uplifting Athletes has raised a record-setting total of more than 130-thousand dollars to benefit the Kidney Cancer Association so far in 2013. The 11th Annual “Lift-for-Life” was held on Friday at the Penn State Lacrosse Field. According to the Centre Daily Times, football student-athletes raised $133,506 as of Saturday. More than 825-thousand dollars has been raised at Penn State since the organization’s inception in 2003. There are now 21 universities nationwide with Uplifting Athletes chapters.
Residents Receive Aid
Meetings for residents displaced by the Waupelani Heights apartments fire will be held today at the State College Municipal Building in room 201. According to Statecollege.com, the meetings were planned by the American Red Cross, Centre County Office of Adult Services and State College Borough. Folks needing assistance can meet between 9 a.m. and noon or 3 and 6 p.m. The fire destroyed 19 apartments, displacing 40 residents on July 4th.
