TWO CAR CRASH

A 19-YEAR-OLD PENNSYLVANIA FURNACE MAN WAS TAKEN TO THE UPMC ALTOONA TRAUMA CENTER AFTER A TWO-CAR CRASH EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. POLICE SAY THE MAN LOST CONTROL OF HIS CAR AND COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER CAR. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT THE CORNER OF WEST WHITEHALL ROAD AND NIXON STREET. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED. 

CHILD PORNOGRAPHY BUST

24-YEAR-OLD ALEXANDER PARK OF LEMONT WAS ARRESTED FRIDAY, AND CHARGED WITH 25 COUNTS OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY POSSESSION. PARK HAD UPLOADED IMAGES OF CHILDREN ENGAGING IN SEXUAL ACTIVITY OR MAKING SEXUAL POSES IN APRIL AND MAY. INVESTIGATORS HAD BEEN LOOKING INTO PARK’S ONLINE ACTIVITIES SINCE JUNE AFTER GETTING A TIP FROM GOOGLE THAT PARK’S EMAIL AND IP ADDRESSES WERE CONNECTED TO FILES SUSPECTED OF CONTAINING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY. PARK IS BEING HELD ON 50,000 DOLLARS BAIL AND AWAITS A PRELIMINARY HEARING ON AUGUST 6TH

GREEN DOT SCAM

STATE COLLEGE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A SERIES OF INSTANCES IN WHICH A PERSON IDENTIFYING HIMSELF AS “DAVID CROWE” IS ADVERTISING PROPERTY RENTALS ONLINE. CROWE IS ASKING VICTIMS TO PAY SEVERAL MONTHS RENT UP FRONT THROUGH THE USE OF A PREPAID GREEN DOT DEBIT CARD. STATE COLLEGE POLICE ARE OPERATING UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE PERPETRATOR(S) IS FROM OUT OF THE COUNTRY. THEY ASK YOU TO BE AWARE OF RENTERS REQUESTING THE USE OF GREEN DOT CARDS. 

INMATE ATTACKS GUARD

STATE POLICE SAY AN INMATE AT THE STATE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION IN BENNER TOWNSHIP ATTACKED A PRISON GUARD EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. THE TWO GOT INTO AN ARGUMENT WITH THE PRISONER PUNCHING THE GUARD MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE FACE. THE OFFICER WAS TREATED FOR CUTS AND BRUISES AT THE MOUNT NITTANY MEDICAL CENTER

LANE RESTRICTIONS

STREET MAINTENANCE WORK IN THE 600 BLOCK OF SOUTH ALLEN STREET BETWEEN PROSPECT AVENUE AND HAMILTON AVENUE WILL TAKE PLACE TODAY BETWEEN 7:30 AM AND 5:00 PM. DURING THAT TIME, TRAFFIC WILL BE ONE LANE ONLY WITH FLAGGERS AND CHANNELING DEVICES CONTROLLING THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO TAKE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE AND/OR EXPECT DELAYS. 

MISSING GUN

STATE COLLEGE POLICE AND POLICE IN SAVANNAH, GEORGIA ARE TEAMING UP TO SOLVE A MISSING GUN CASE. A CONTAINER HOLDING A 9 MM SMITH & WESSON GUN WAS SHIPPED FROM THE MILITARY BASE IN SAVANNAH, BUT WHEN THE RECIPIENT RECEIVED THE PACKAGE IN STATE COLLEGE ON FRIDAY, THE GUN WAS NOT INSIDE. THE PACKAGE ARRIVED WRAPPED AND SEALED IN STATE COLLEGE, LEADING AUTHORITIES TO BELIEVE THAT THE GUN WAS TAKEN IN GEORGIA

ROAD CLOSED

CONCRETE CURB REPLACEMENT WILL TAKE PLACE ON WEST HAMILTON AVENUE BETWEEN WALNUT STREET AND SOUTH ALLEN STREET BEGINNING TODAY AND CONTINUING THROUGH THURSDAY, AUGUST 7TH. WORK WILL BE DONE BETWEEN 7:30 AM AND 5:00 PM AND CREWS WILL HAVE TO CLOSE WEST HAMILTON AVENUE DURING THIS TIME. MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO TAKE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE AND/OR EXPECT DELAYS. 

STATE COLLEGE FLOODING

A SERIES OF THUNDERSTORMS LED TO FLOODING AND ROAD CLOSURES IN STATE COLLEGE ON SUNDAY. THE EASTBOUND LANES OF COLLEGE AVENUE AROUND THE BLAISE ALEXANDER AUTO DEALERSHIP WERE CLOSED DOWN FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR. ATHERTON STREET FROM PARK AVE TO COLLEGE AVE WAS CLOSED FOR AN HOUR AS WELL. ORCHARD ROAD BETWEEN PARK AVE AND PUDDINTOWN ROAD ALSO CLOSED FOR A SHORT TIME. SENIOR ACCUWEATHER METEOROLOGIST CARL ERICKSON ESTIMATED THAT THE AREA RECEIVED 1.5 TO 2.5 INCHES OF RAIN DURING THE STORM
