 After two individuals announced earlier that they would do so, the other six of the eight Penn State students charged with furnishing alcohol to minors in connection with Paige Raque’s five-story fall waived their right to a preliminary hearing Yesterday.

The women face misdemeanor charges relating to the events surrounding the cheerleaders fall out of a window in Calder Commons in October.A formal arraignment is set for March 27 in Courtroom number 2 of the Centre County Courthouse. 

Sebastianelli

On the same day where the legendary Fran Ganter announced he would retire after 46 years with Penn State, Dr Wayne Sebastianelli announced that he is leaving his position of the head team physician for the Penn State football team, a position he has had since 1992.

In a statement by Assistant Athletic Director/Communications Jeff Nelson, he confirmed that Sebastianelli would remain director of athletic medicine for Penn State, continue to oversee all sports medicine services for the university and continue to provide care to student athletes.

Peter Seidenberg will take over the position of team physician. 

Construction

Weather permitting, the State College Public Works Department will make repairs to a storm sewer line on the 100 block of West Prospect Avenue between 7:30 and 5 today.

The work will require the closure of West Prospect Avenue between Frasier Street and Walnut Street.

Forum

The State College Area School District will host the second community forum on the high school project tonight from 7-8:30 in the High School Auditorium.

Those who attend the forum will hear from students and teachers regarding educational planning work and guiding principles, while the majority of the presentation will cover the preliminary facility options and associated costs.

Like the first forum, optional tours of both high school buildings will be conducted beginning at 5:30.

Secrecy

The Associated Press is reporting that a Pennsylvania judge has named a special prosecutor to examine whether secrecy rules were violated in relation to the grand jury that investigated Jerry Sandusky, Graham Spanier, Tim Curley and Gary Shultz.

The AP obtained the order from February 8 in which Judge Barry Feudale appointed attorney James Reeder to look into the matter.

Feudale has given Reeder six months to investigate the matter.
