Corbett Vs the NCAA

The legal battle between Governor Corbett and the NCAA will land in a court room for the first time today.

Judge Yvette Kane will hear oral arguments in the case in Harrisburg. Corbett is suing the NCAA in an antitrust lawsuit that is seeking the reversal of the sanctions the association levied against Penn State last July. He also argues that the punishment has a negative effect on the Pennsylvania economy.

The NCAA is asking the judge to throw out the lawsuit saying that Corbett has no business intervening in a settled agreement between the association and the university. The hearing will be held at 2pm.

Beginning today, some of the busiest parts of North Atherton Street may experience some delays. Temporary moving closures will reduce traffic to one lane each way for about three miles from the intersection with West College Avenue all the way to Colonnade Way.

State Department of Transportation Crews will be doing survey work from 6am-6pm to inspect the drainage systems along the stretch of the road to see if anything needs to be repaired or replaced.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 99 will also be restricted beginning today. According to PennDOT, maintenance crews will be repairing joint sealing along the corridor between Innovation Park and the Route 150 Interchange between 7am and 3pm.

The road work on I-99 will last until September, but will be lifted during high traffic times, such as Arts Fest and home football games.
