The Annual Boalsburg Fire Company’s Memorial Day Carnival continues today. The Carnival, which began last night and will wrap up on Monday, is expected to draw thousands and features amusement park rides and several food choices.
The Carnival is one of several events in Boalsburg this Memorial Day weekend. Other events include the annual fire company parade which will be held tomorrow and the 33rd annual Memorial Day Run. The race will be on Monday morning.

The U.S, house passed legislation yesterday that hopes to help and not hurt college students once they graduate.
Local Representative Glenn Thompson voted to support the Smarter Solutions for Students Act, a bill aimed at preventing the student loan interest rate increase that is scheduled for July 1.
The proposed bill would set all student loans, excluding Perkins loans, to a market based system. According to a press release, loans would be calculated using the 10 year Treasury note plus 2 and a half percent, reset once a year, and be capped during higher rate environments.If a bill is not passed, student loan rates will double.
