Strengths

·         Explosive speed, jumps off tape

·         Acceleration off of LoS is impressive

·         Fires out low and keeps his pad level down to win leverage battle

·         Exhibits multiple pass rushing moves

·         Quick twitch athlete

·         Very long arms, especially for height

·         Good lower body bulk

·         Plays in space as well, shows hip fluidity

·         Could stand to refine pass rushing technique

Analysis:

Chris Smith is the classic tweener. He’s got the bulk but not the strength or the height to play defensive end at the next level. He’s strong but not defensive end strong. He also doesn’t play the run very well. Will benefit in transition to OLB in a 3-4. He’s had experience playing in space at Arkansas and will have a smooth transition at the next level. I have a high opinion of Smith. I think he will be a difference maker. Steal in the mid rounds because of his lack of height.
