Strengths

·         Good size, solid frame and big hands

·         Reliable blocker, can take on defensive ends and hold his ground

·         Uses proper technique when blocking

·         Soft hands and a surprisingly good route runner

·         Will sink hips and make good cuts in route

·         Can find the soft spot in the zone

·         Turns hips and reach blocks well

·         Can extend and grab balls outside his frame

·         Holds on in traffic, tough will take a hit or give one

·         Can line up on LoS or in slot

 

Weaknesses

·         Not an elite athlete, doesn’t have explosion or top end speed

·         Not elusive after the catch

·         Sometimes struggles to locate defender at the second level

·         Doesn’t truly excel at anything

·         Will lunge and get off-balance at times

·         Not an elite jumper

·         Runs like a lineman

 

Analysis:


It may be the uniforms that Iowa wears, but C.J. Fiedorowicz reminds me of Heath Miller. He’s good at most things you ask him to do, but he doesn’t have one thing he excels at. He’s a good blocker but he won’t dominate anyone. He’s got solid hands and he can find the soft spot in zone coverage but he’s by no means a great athlete. He just is a solid, classic run-first tight end. There is a place in the NFL for players like Fiedorowicz. Will be a very good value pick on day two or three of the draft.
