Strengths

·         Excellent size, thick bodied receiver with long arms

·         Suprisingly shifty after the catch

·         Good body control, makes catch along the sideline

·         Hard to bring down

Weaknesses

·         Very slow for a receiver

·         Doesn’t have any suddenness or explosiveness to his game

·         Slow for a receiver

·         Doesn’t sink hips and break down into top of route

·         Predictable route runner so savviness to his game

·         Average run blocker for his size, very finesse player

·          Vertical is not good, doesn’t play as tall as he is

·         Probably won’t make the jump ball play

Analysis:

Cody Hoffman is a big, thick-bodied wide receiver with a big catch radius. That however, is really the only thing he has going for him. He’s not fast enough to create separation at the next level, he doesn’t run good routes (which also creates separation) and he isn’t very physical. He may be able to be a special teams contributor but he’s not going to be the first guy down the field and he lacks any nastiness to his game. Despite his size he doesn’t have a great vertical and he doesn’t have any explosiveness to his game. Not much upside with Hoffman
