Strengths

·         Height/weight/speed guy

·         Smooth runner who accelerates well

·         Vertical leap is impressive

·         Flashes the potential to be great

·         Good route runner

·         Beats the jam at the LOS

·         Breaks down at the top of route and gets in and out of breaks well

·         Can make the first guy miss after the catch

·         Decent blocker

Weaknesses

·         Agility is good, but not great  

·         Doesn’t make the contested catch or the highlight play

·         Body catcher who needs to improve hands

·         Only lined up at one position in college

·         Doesn’t play up to his size

·         Not great at creating after the catch

 

Analysis:

Donte Moncrief has one of the highest ceilings in this draft. He has the size, speed and leaping ability to be a true number one receiver. But he needs to develop into that at this point. His hands are inconsistent, he doesn’t dominate corners, and he doesn’t come down with the tough catch. He will be only 21 years old as a rookie so he will have plenty of time to develop but he’s not there yet. At worst he can be a Jacoby Jones style utility player at the next level.
