Strengths

·         Great size with long arms

·         Elite NFL speed, complete package physically

·         Explodes out of backpedal, explosive athlete

·         Good zone skills, baits quarterback into bad throws

·         Good ball skills

·         Good technique, backpedal and hand fighting

·         Added bonus as an explosive kick returner

·         Had 20 reps on the bench at the combine

 

 Weaknesses

·         Rides a lot on talent, doesn’t always play with aggression or urgency

·         Liability in the running game, doesn’t want to tackle

·         Needs to sharpen focus, has lapses from time to time

·         Can play a bit high

Analysis:

Justin Gilbert is an electrifying next generation lock down corner. He’s got size, speed, length and strength. Sure there are weaknesses in his game, he’s a bit soft and doesn’t tackle very well. But you pay a guy like Gilbert to erase the other team’s number one receiver. He will do that at the next level. A sure fire top 10 pick. Gilbert is a no. 1 corner.
