Strengths

·         Wide bodied center with elite NFL size

·         Athletic center who can get to the second level

·         Quick off the line of scrimmage to fire into defender

·         Good technician with a solid base of fundamentals

·         Can anchor vs bull rush and wall defenders

·         Strong lower body

·         Flashes dominant characteristics

 

Weaknesses

·         Not a mauler, will need to improve strength

·         Tends to lunge at defenders on the second level instead of breaking down

·         Finesse, does not play with tenacity

·         Needs to improve consistency, has mental lapses

·         Needs to improve awareness

Analysis:

Martin needs to improve on a couple of areas but he has the big body that line coaches love. Overall he’s got solid fundamentals and he uses technique and quickness to wall of defenders. He does have mental lapses and he tends to lean on defenders instead of locking them out and walking them back. With proper coaching he will be a solid center. Consistency and urgency are the biggest concerns with Marcus Martin right now.
