Scouting Report: Safety Rankings

1. Calvin Pryor Louisville

2. Ha Ha Clinton-DIx Alabama

3. Brock Vereen Minnesota

4. Craig Loston LSU

5. Dezmen Southward Wisconsin

Overview:

Beyond the top two safeties in this draft class there isn't a lot of dependable depth this year. Brock Vereen is a man without a position, Craig Loston has athletic deficiencies and Dezmen Southward is a track athlete who is still learning to play football. If your team needs a safety, get one early or you're on your own.

No Elite Players:

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Calvin Pryor are both very good players but neither will be elite at the next level. Neither display the ball skills, or range to be truly dynamic. Both are good hitters and play the run reasonably well (Pryor much more so than Clinton-Dix) and will be solid starters in the league. I don't think either are worth a top 15 pick in the draft.
