Analysis:

Jernigan is an oddity in the fact that he’s an undersized defensive tackle who’s exceptionally strong. His game is best suited to playing nose tackle but he’s a couple pounds shy of 300. Most nose tackles are 320lbs plus. Jernigan fist best in a run first 3-4 scheme as a nose or an end. He’s not a great pass rusher and doesn’t have an array of moves. He’s quick but is easily neutralized by longer blockers who can lock him out. He also doesn’t have the hip flexibility or bend to be a threat off the edge as a rusher. Jernigan is one of, if not the best run defender of the class and will find a home, most likely in the first round.
