Analysis:

Victor Hampton has been compared quite a bit to Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu coming out of college. Both are small, aggressive cornerbacks with great instincts but are simply too small and not athletic enough to play the position. Both also have maturity and character questions as well. Hampton seems to have much more of the latter compared to Mathieu though. In high school Hampton was kicked off three separate teams and at South Carolina he was suspended or benched multiple times, including this past year. He hasn’t seemed to be able to turn the corner. Some teams have removed him from their boards for this reason. He’s definitely a risk to pick but he’s got very good football instincts and will find a home at the NFL level if he can stay clean. Hampton is a third round talent who might go as low as the sixth due to character questions.
